Drawn to Know

A very exciting evening event at The National Portrait Gallery last night, hosted by The Campaign for Drawing. The Victorian Rooms were transformed into six wonderful drawing studios where artists Rupert Alexander, Dryden Goodwin, Timothy Hyman RA, Michael Landy RA, Chris Orr RA and Posy Simmonds led workshops inspired by the collection.

Drawing in the inspirational surroundings of gallery and against a backdrop of great Victorian scientific and technological pioneers, Dryden Goodwin’s workshop looked at how drawing can reveal and record knowledge and insight about a sitter, from the rational to the sensual.

Also on in London: Driven to Draw Twentieth Century Drawings and Sketchbooks from the Royal Academy Collection at the Royal Academy. featuring work by artists including Bryan Kneale RA, Sarah Simblet and Michael Sandle RA amongst others.
