Michelle Cioccoloni is a practicing artist currently based in London and West Sussex, specializing in monochrome ink drawings of interiors and objects.
She trained at the
Royal Drawing School in London, which has at its core intensive research
and practice in drawing from observation. As recipient of the 2014 Richard
Ford Award she was Artist in Residence at the Museo del Prado, Madrid,
drawing from the paintings in the museum's vast collection. Carrying out
in-depth study of the Spanish Masters led to her current body of work, a series
of highly detailed drawings and paintings of botanical subjects, which make use
of dramatic contrasts of light and dark, employ colour for expressive purposes
and use form as a vehicle for conveying emotions.
Her work is held in the following collections: The Royal Collection; The Royal Academy, London; Museo del Prado, Madrid; Dumfries House, Scotland; Sir Michael Moritz & Harriet Heyman; private collections in UK, Austria, Spain, Italy and USA.
